Maybe it goes by a different name in NYC. Try ordering a Sparkling Limontini. (Of course, then it will cost $10, right?)

Or you could carry sugar packets, order a gimlet, and then stir it yourself.

For a touch of elegance, mix your own simple syrup and carry it in a stained-glass bottle. (It doesn't need to be kept cool, in my experience.)

I'm afraid that if you don't get your Tom Collins, you'll wind up mixing Fresca with corner-store hooch and shouting at the tourists on Fifth Avenue.
